Okay, sometimes I hate to admit it, but my guilty pleasure is a television show called One Tree Hill. It is sort of like a train wreck: it's awful but you can't help but look. Well, one of the reasons I love this show (yes, I admit it fully, I LOVE IT)is that the music is phenomenal. They play a lot of music most wouldn't know about off the top of their head (The Weepies, Kate Voegele, Augustana, just to name a few) but have really great music.
The other day I was watching an episode and Jana Kramer, who plays a character on the show named Alex, recently performed on the show. Her single is called "I Won't Give Up."
As soon as the music started I got chills (I have a soft spot for acoustic music.) Then I listened to the lyrics. Now, I have a method of knowing when a song hits me. I literally stand still-I don't move. It's as if I can't. I can't do anything except listen to the music and the words and soak it all in. That's how it was with "I Won't Give Up." Nothing else mattered in that moment except listening to that song.
As of date, I've listened to "I Won't Give Up" a total of 53 songs on my ipod, and 21 on my computer. I downloaded it not even a week ago. It's amazing. The lyrics focus on not walking away from someone and having faith in them, even when they don't have faith in themselves. Sometimes we get hurt or mad or upset with people when they aren't living up to expectations or what you think is right. And sometimes people fall short. It's just a matter of not giving up on someone and trusting them and believing in them. I see it as how Jesus will never give up on me and He will always believe in me and always stay with me, even when I feel like I am driving down a pitch black road and I can't see out in front of me.
